How to get back to your gym routine and not give up trying

How to get back to your gym routine and not give up trying

Did you know that most people take about 66 days to get into a habit? That's according to a study by University College London.

It's hard to get back to the routine, and even more so after the summer. But September always means the beginning of new challenges. And getting back to school and work also means getting back to the gym. Be consistent, get in the mindset, and get your more athletic side back.

It takes many days for your training routine to start becoming a habit. It may seem like a lot, but once you reach it, nothing can stop you. Don't give up!

Here at ALE-HOP, we want to help you out with some tips, so if you want to know more... stay tuned! It's just 4 steps.

Always work out in good company.

The first tip is very important, since exercising and sharing your challenge with another person will offer you many benefits. As they say, ‘sharing is caring.'

You can work out with a friend, family member, co-worker, or anyone who can share that time of putting in the effort and sticking with it by your side.

You'll be more motivated because you'll be part of a team. So if one of you doesn't have the same strength to keep going, the other will always be there to help you. That's the key to being committed and never losing motivation. Even if it's just ‘not to leave your partner alone,’ you will always still do it.

Besides, it will be more fun, which will help you look forward to it much more.

Plan your workouts.

One of the things that can leave you feeling unmotivated is not being organized and always leaving it ‘for later.’ We all know that 'later' never comes.

Plan your routine based on your capabilities, and never try to give any more or less than you can. Stick to the plan... but watch out! Don't be hard on yourself if an unforeseen event arises one day and you can't do it.

If you are just starting out, it is recommendable to work out 2 to 3 days a week.

Choose your supplies carefully, and always have them organized.

Getting home, organizing everything, and choosing the exercises you're going to do will be a barrier in your mind, which can lead to you giving up.

Plan your exercises in advance and have everything ready in the place where you're going to exercise.

Today, we will give you a few ideas of sports equipment that you can use in training at home:

The best time of the day to exercise.

We recommend working out in the morning before going to work for two reasons:

  • In the morning, you won't have any excuses; working out will be your only plan. That way, you won't be tempted to cancel your workout; you won't have anything else to do.

  • Working out in the morning offers a set of benefits for your health:

    • It will become the best alternative to morning coffee, as it will give you all the energy you need to face the day.

    • It helps you concentrate. Your performance at work will be much higher.

    • It improves quality of sleep because you're more tired at the end of the day.

    • And most importantly, it helps you create a routine. That's exactly what we want. A routine that ends up becoming a healthy habit

Think about all the benefits of exercising - not only for your health, but also for your concentration, planning, organization, and your life in general. It's a win-win!

Just keep going until you hit 66 days! After that, it will be so easy. It will even be difficult not to exercise.

Now that you've read these tips, the only thing left is to get going. Come on! We promise you'll notice a change in your body and your mind. Exercising is fun and healthy.
