Tips to get ready for summer camp

Tips to get ready for summer camp

Summer is already just around the corner, and that means summer camps.

Camps are so anticipated by little ones throughout the year, and they coincide with the end of school and the beginning of the summer holidays. In these months, the kids don't have school and need activities to do.

That's why camps are a perfect place to play and have fun while learning for one or two weeks in the summer. There's no time for boredom! Every day is an adventure for them, and best of all, they will make many new friends.

If this is your little one's first time at camp, you're sure to have a lot of questions.

While the preparations may vary some depending on the camp's characteristics, there are many tips that can be useful for anyone.

If you want to have everything under control and prepare everything your little one needs in advance, keep reading. Here is a list of some essentials for a summer camp.

1. First of all, there's documentation.

At every camp, the monitors have all the necessary personal information on each child. Even so, it's still important that they always have their ID and health card on them.

In addition, if they get sick or need medical treatments, everything must be explained and detailed in a document along with the documentation.

2. Personal toiletries.

The child must take all the necessary belongings in a toiletry bag with enough room to accommodate their creams, both sunscreen and moisturizers, a bath towel, toothbrush, gel, shampoo, and basic personal hygiene products.

In any case, one of the most important things to include will be a mini first aid kit for possible falls, such as band-aids and insect repellent or anti-itch solutions.

3. A backpack with enough of the right clothes.

A medium-sized backpack so that the little one can carry a change of clothes for each day and a spare set for anything that may happen. This will also depend on the type of camp. If it's a sports camp, they may need more clothes since kids are constantly on the move and get dirty very easily there.

What are the basics for any camp? Warm clothing is a must for the evenings, as well as comfortable shoes like sneakers.

If the camp has a swimming pool or activities on the beach, you should throw in two towels and two swimsuits.

4. Protective accessories.

Every child should bring a cap or hat with them to protect themselves from the sun, as most camp activities will take place outdoors.

Another useful item will be a waterproof bag, since they will be able to carry their documentation or phones around their neck everywhere they go when there is a swimming pool or days at the beach.

Another item to consider is a hand-held fan to withstand the heat.

Remember to include a raincoat in case it rains. This will keep them protected from the rain and will let them play and have fun outdoors no matter what.

5. A water bottle to stay hydrated all the time.

Hydration is always necessary, but especially in summer. Children play in the sun for hours, and this can make them very tired. Choose a big enough bottle, even better if it's reusable.

Once you have everything ready in their backpack, the only thing left to do is let them have fun! Follow all these tips to keep everything under control. Plus, parents will also enjoy some time for themselves. Let the camps begin!
